Madekwe was born in South London, England into a family of mixed blood. The father of her is Nigerian as well as Swiss and her mother is English. Her family was lived in a housing estate run by the council south of London. In the ages of 14she enrolled in The Brit School. In London she attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in which her acting diploma was earned. Madekwe also starred as the title character in How to lose friends & alienate people and be apathetic, which premiered on Sony Pictures Entertainment back in the year 2008. Her credits in theatre includes Little Sweet Thing or Roy Williams and Flight Path of David Watson.
Madekwe made her debut in the US in the US with The Beautiful Life. The drama series was telecast on The CW for only two episodes, but it was ended. Ashley Leggat, a twice Gemini nominated actress was born into a large family in Hamilton, Ontario. Her parents Roy and Patty along with her four brothers, Brett, Todd, and Bram, were all present. Ashley's athletic brothers played baseball in summer and hockey during winters. Ashley could never walk but she was able to dance. When she turned two-and-a-half she started Baby Ballet and fell in the love. Ashley discovered a love for dancing after she started the Baby Ballet. When she was in High School, Ashley danced competitively in the highest divisions of ballet, tap, jazz and pointe as well as acrobatics, musical theatre, lyrical and hip hop. Ashley was awarded the best individualist in all the major dance competitions including, International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers 5-6-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, and Dance, Dance, Dance among others.
